Camps and Accommodation: The commodious main camp consists of permanent raised wooden cabins and stone bungalows, equipped with private showers and flush toilets; electricity is provided by a generator. In addition, there is a second permanent camp consisting of colorful, roomy stone and straw huts or "Boukarous" with private showers, flush toilets and fluorescent lights, and an additional bush camp.
Delicious French-style meals are served in hearty portions, and bread is baked daily. Cheese and dairy products, fresh fruits, salads and vegetables accompany meals - depending on seasonal availability. Drinking water is purified and filtered. Laundry is washed and ironed daily.
A standard bar (various hard liquors and spirits, beer, wine, syrups and soft drinks) for moderate consumption is included in the price of your safari. Although we are delighted to fulfill special requests, we expect the sophisticated international hunter to understand that there is a limited availability of foreign merchandise in the C.A.R. No diet sodas are available; bring your own Tang, Gatorade or Kool-Aid. There is no problem importing through customs your duty-free favorite cognac, cordial or champagne.
Travel: Hunters travel to Bangui, C.A.R via Paris/Charles de Gaulle Airport on AIR FRANCE airlines. We will inform you which flights to book; they are always subject to change. Rudy Lubin Safaris is not responsible for delays or loss of baggage by AIR FRANCE or the domestic charter.
Any inconvenience or expenses, including hotel, restaurants, supplementary airplane ticket charges, etc. not specifically included in the cost of your safari are the responsibility of the hunter/tourist.
Reception and Transfers: A representative of the company will meet you at the Mpoko International Airport in Bangui to assist in clearing customs and immigration for your international arrival and departure, transfers to domestic charters, hotel, shopping, etc.
Visas, Vaccinations, Tourist Permits: A VISA is required of all nationalities to enter the C.A.R. Do not leave getting your visa until the last minute; you may wish to use a visa service. The address for the C.A.R Embassy in the USA: 1618 22nd Street, Washington, DC 20008, Tel: 202-483-7800.
Proof of a valid YELLOW FEVER vaccination in an "International Certificate of Vaccination" booklet must be presented upon arrival in the C.A.R. Please check with your doctor for recommendations for the prevention of MALARIA.
Guns and Ammunition: Hunters require both a Hunting License and Gun Import Permit.
The processing is handled by the company upon receipt of your "Global Fee", hunting license form, and three passport photos. The license and permits are delivered to you upon arrival in the C.A.R while clearing rifles through customs.
Hunters are allowed a maximum of FOUR weapons, i.e. two big-game calibers over 6mm (Recommended:.375, .416, .458) and one small caliber rifle (under 6mm). Only one handgun may be imported; 8mm (.338) is the minimum for dangerous game. There is no limit on the number of rounds you are allowed to import.
Remember: Airlines require that ammo must be packed in a separate locked ammunition box with a maximum weight of 5kgs. A .22 rifle and ammo are available at camp for shooting guinea fowl, francolin, and duikers.
A "FIRED CARTRIDGE TAX of 2.60 Euros per round is charged by the C.A.R government. This is calculated by the number of rounds imported minus the number of rounds exported. This tax is payable at the airport before departure and is the responsibility of the hunter. The Tourist Permit for Observers is handled by the company upon receipt of your "Global Fee", permit form and three passport photos.
Remember: The sophisticated international hunter should understand that delays and unforeseeable difficulties may arise due to the unpredictability of the Continent. We make every effort for your safari to unfold smoothly.
